The Glenda Gail

There is a sweet breeze moving in off the sea.
It comes through the palm trees looking for me.
It knows when I’m found I’m bound to set sail
Out across the waters on, The Glenda Gail.

I’ll leave my house and it’s locked doors
and head out for all my favorite shores.
Though I love my home on this dry land shore,
I long to be out on the sea once more.

I’m setting sail on, The Glenda Gail.
There are new horizons on the top of each swell.
For each low point there is a new high.
Out on the ocean my heart gets to fly.

My memories become vividly clear.
I remember them as my course I steer.
Blow the whistle. Ring the ships bell.
I’m setting sail on, The Glenda Gail.

There is a whisper from the water's heart.
Urging me onward, it knows I will start
as soon as my lines are loosed from the dock,
the wind fills my sails, my boat starts to rock.

On this great journey, the wind never fails.
Always blows true, filling bright white sails.
She has sleek clean lines, a beautiful bow.
Out through the water she will gracefully plow.

I’ve grown old waiting for this trip.
But in my walk I still have a skip.
I’ve become anxious to get under way.
Anticipation building every day.

She has the beauty of faithful youth.
We speak of her and her eternal truth.
My death ship will carry me to new life.
Where there is never hate or vengeful strife.

I’m setting sail on, The Glenda Gail.
There are new horizons on the top of each swell.
For each low point there is a new high.
Out on the ocean my heart gets to fly.

My memories become vividly clear.
I remember them as my course I steer.
I heard the whistle blow. Heard the ringing of the bell.
I have finally set sail on, The Glenda Gail.
